Native Truffle Foraging Experience in the Adelaide Hills – Sequoia Lodge

Sequoia Lodge will again offer its bespoke truffle experience this year, giving guests the opportunity to experience the operations of a small trufferie farm, Quercus Truffles.

Quercus Truffle farm is located in the Piccadilly food bowl, right on Sequoia’s door step, and forms part of the rural vista guests enjoy from the floor to ceiling windows of their suites at the Lodge.

The family run boutique farm is herbicide and pesticide free and a premium supplier of Perigord black truffles. The organic trufferie is also mown by wild kangaroos and deer.

Visitors to the farm are greeted by family member Emma, who guides a small handful of guests to join the excitement of a hunt with the truffle dogs - Ruby, Gus and Riley. The dogs are well trained to find ripe truffles, however, there no guarantees which adds to the excitement of truffle hunting. Unearthing truffles is a highly rewarding experience.

After the hunt, the experience continues with visitors returning to the warm farmhouse to learn the art of sorting and cleaning the truffles. Guests then return to the Lodge with their foraged truffles for Chef Nicholas to create truffle inspired dishes for dinner.

The truffle experience is an exciting and exclusive opportunity as part of Sequoia’s culinary journey of South Australia, sharing the stories of the region, its nature, and produce. It offers visitors the opportunity to discover the land and connect with its people.

The Sequoia truffle experience is offered three times per week, Monday, Wednesdays & Fridays (3pm), and lasts one and a half hours. Cost is $649 per couple and includes transfers, guided truffle hunting with dogs, followed by sorting and cleaning with glass of Sequoia sparkling and truffle snacks at the farm.

The season will run from 17th June through to 31st August and may be extended subject to availability of truffle availability.
